The storm came quick. Without warning the sky blackened. Winds blew. Thunder rolled and lightening flashed. Water fell fast and hard. Then as quickly as it came it left. The clouds parted and the sun shone bright. Rivers flowed in the backyard and branches glistened with droplets of water in the setting sun. But the rainbow, more brilliant than I had ever seen, seemed to span the entire sky. Its vibrant colors glowed neon on the dark sky.
I grabbed my phone to quickly capture the glory of this moment. There was no time to hesitate and return to the house to get the more expensive camera. A camera more capable of capturing the beauty. A camera made for these moments.
Later when the images appeared on the screen before me, I saw the beauty, the glory. His glory. This tiny camera that lacks the strength and features of the more expensive camera… did it’s job. And did it well. The memory of that day captured. Gloriously.
How many times have I done this in my own life? Just as I underestimated the ability of my simple camera phon;e looked at my situation, my credentials, my borders… And told God No. I am not good enough. I lack strength, education, health, courage. My life is too messy. There are others more qualified.
You got it wrong this time.
But He never gets it wrong. He calls and He equips. He uses the weakness and illness. The fears and the mess. He uses them for good. He uses you right where you are whether it’s from a bed or from a podium. He uses it all for good. All for His glory. Who am I to question?
May He equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.
